Sybil Mira was Queen Levana's head thaumaturge.

History[]

In Channary's reign, she was "the court's ambassador with the biochemical research team" (the group responsible for creating Letumosis). She was then deemed the official royal representative of ungifted affairs by Queen Channary. Sybil Mira was later the head thaumaturge of Levana & the ambassador of Luna to the Eastern Commonwealth with her personal guard being Jacin Clay. Sybil was in charge of taking care of the ungifted Lunar children being held captive in the dormitories. She was also the mistress of Crescent Darnel before the hacker's betrayal. Her role in the Lunar court was said to be "between a doting lapdog and gleeful servant who delighted in seeing to Queen Levana's cruelest requests," as when when she attacked and nearly blinded an innocent Earthen servant just because Queen Levana asked her to.[1]

Death[]

During Kai's kidnapping, Sybil discovered Cinder & the crew on the rooftop and ordered for them to be killed. Sybil manipulated Wolf into attempting to kill Cinder, though she retaliated by attacking Sybil's mind. She then took control of her gift and tortured Sybil, who went insane & ultimately killed herself by jumping off the palace roof.[2]

Recent Events[]

In Cress, Sybil visited Cress' satellite with Jacin accompanying her. Upon discovering that Cress was in contact with the Rampion & planning to escape, she tied her up. When the Rampion arrived & Thorne entered the satellite, she, with her Lunar gift, set the satellite crashing for Earth and made her way into the cargo ship, where she then revealed herself and attacked the crew. Jacin then shot Sybil, though she survived and returned to Luna, taking Scarlet as prisoner as Jacin willingly stayed on the Rampion.

Characteristics[]

Physical Attributes[]

Sybil was exceptionally beautiful, with waist-length "glossy raven's-wing hair falling down her back" and warm, honeyed skin accompanied by cold, gray eyes. Her beauty was not an illusion, unlike Queen Levana's.

Personality[]

Sybil took her title very seriously as she displayed little to no emotion and always acted professionally. She was described as self-assured and confident. She was also a ruthless woman, shown to have zero sympathy for anybody who got in her or her queen's way. As with Cress, whom Sybil kept to live in a satellite for half her life for the sake of spying on Earthen governmental officials. Despite this, she was adept at faking motherly emotions towards Cress during her childhood.

Skills[]

Sybil possessed the natural ability to manipulate bio-electricity in people. As with all lunars born with the gift, she could control the nerve impulses and therefore the minds of those around her such as her guards and special operatives like Wolf to attack Cinder and her allies. As Head Thaumaturge, Sybil was likely the most skilled at manipulating bio-electricity, surpassed only by Queen Levana and Princess Selene. She could glamour herself to look like someone else as she made herself appear as Cress to trick Carswell. Sybil was also cunning and tactical, after discovering Cress's betrayal and attempt to escape, she quickly devised a trap for Cinder and her allies which nearly succeeded until Jacin betrayed her.

Relationships[]

Cress Darnel[]

Ever since Cress was a child, Sybil treated her in a repulsive manner due to her status as a shell. When Cress was only 9, Sybil kept her in a satellite for Earthen research over a 7 year timespan until she was 16 - until Sybil found out Cress was in contact with Cinder's group. Sybil responded by glamouring herself as Cress and attacking the group, who attempted to rescue Cress from Levana. The real Cress was soon found bound & gagged elsewhere, exhibiting Sybil's true feelings towards Cress, evidently believing her to be disposable.

Levana Blackburn[]

Sybil was entirely devoted to Levana and showed utter professionalism & devotion in front of her queen. She took Levana's criticism and orders to heart, trying to fulfill her wishes to the fullest extent. Levana considered Sybil to be her favorite thaumaturge and suspected that she was the only member of her court truly loyal to her.

Trivia[]

  • She took both the role of the Magic Mirror from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs & Mother Gothel from Rapunzel.
    • She was considered Levana's confidante, the latter alluding to the Evil Queen from the same fairytale. The Evil Queen also confided in the Magic Mirror to uncover Snow White's whereabouts.
    • She oversaw all of Cress' confinement and was the only person in her life to be considered a motherly figure.
